This ‘Parks & Rec’ Teaser Is Teasy

01.07.11 Written by Danger Guerrero

HAHA UR DOIN SEX BACKWARDS

NBC has released a four-minute, behind the scenes teaser for the upcoming season of “Parks & Recreation,” and let me be the first (technically, not anywhere near the first — but you can technically kiss my butt) to say THANK GOD.  Don’t get me wrong, the teaser isn’t super-hilarious or anything, but it is a sign that we are ever closer to the show returning to its rightful place in NBC’s Thursday night lineup.  As you may remember, it was bumped to midseason in favor of the zany and original gee-aren’t-other-cultures-with-accents-and-sometimes-white-people-but-mostly-foreigners-HILARIOUS comedy “Outsourced.”

Well, now it’s coming back as part of NBC’s new three our comedy block, and it’s got a plum spot at 9:30, right behind “The Office.”  I can’t wait.  Last season, I had it on my short list of enjoyable network comedies, along with “Community” and “Modern Family.” And unlike those shows there’s hardly any gratuitous jiggling involved, so you know it had to be good to make my list anyway.

Three quick thoughts about the teaser:

  1. Aziz Ansari telling the Foot Locker manager to suck it cracked me up.
  2. Nick Offerman’s character, Ron Swanson makes by far the best facial expression on TV.
  3. Good Lord, Rashida Jones and Rob Lowe are attractive people.  I’m not advocating forced breeding, but there should be a law that they have to have a bunch of kids just to even out damage being done by ugly people having multiples every other week on TLC.  Wait, maybe I am advocating forced breeding.  I regret nothing.

Top Ten: The Worst Characters on the Best TV Shows

12.13.10 Written by Josh

From time to time, it’s good to get a different opinion on television. Here’s Josh Kurp, a freelance writer whose work has appeared on Nerve and Splitsider.

Sunday marked the season five finale of “Dexter,” and while it hasn’t been as consistent as the Trinity arc last year, it’s been a relatively strong season—except for one character, one character so bad that she has inspired a list of the worst characters on the best shows. These are the people who ruin otherwise great television, the ones that you immediately make you want to kill yourself when you see them on screen.

These rankings are first based off how great the show is, then ordered by how crappy the character is. And, with all due respect to Alex Krycek (“The X-Files”), Janice Soprano (“The Sopranos”), Tara Maclay (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), and Ziggy Sobotka (“The Wire”), we’re only including shows that are still on the air. But don’t worry, those four are all as equally awful as the choices below, if not more so in the case of Ziggy. F*ckin’ Ziggy.

QUESTLOVE ON THE HISTORY OF WU-TANG & ‘PARKS AND RECREATION’

01.13.10 Written by Matt

RZA-parks

Questlove once wrote on Twitter that “Parks and Recreation” was the Wu-Tang Clan of comedy, and apparently that was inspiration enough for this Funny or Die video in which RZA auditions for the role of Leslie Knope (watch below).

I don’t know what else I really need to say here. I introduced the video, and there are jokes in the video. I shouldn’t have to write additional jokes as well. What am I, your little joke monkey? Why do people keep calling me a monkey? Is it my prehensile tail or the feces-throwing?

RASHIDA JONES, BY REQUEST

07.26.09 Written by Matt

craigferguson-rashida-jones

Here’s Rashida Jones on Craig Ferguson from Friday night’s “Late Late Show,” by popular demand.  And by “popular demand” I mean one person talked about it in the comments.  That’s all it takes to get Rashida news around here.  I guess she’s doing publicity for the DVD release of I Love You, Man, but the real news is HELLO LEGS.

Anyway, the full interview is after the jump.  As you surely know if you have the slightest amount of taste, Rashida’s one of those awesome women who is nice to look at and also good at the funny repartée thing.  Dear Hollywood, more Rashida Jones, please.

(Also, as a side note, sorry for anyone who checked back in expecting new posts this weekend — I actually spent most of the weekend volunteering.  And NO, it was NOT court-ordered.  I had the option of serving time.)
