Though they’ve been around since 1987, when CompuServe blah blah blah, GIFs have only really exploded in popularity over the last few years, thanks mostly to websites like Tumblr. They’re like pictures, but NOT. They’re like videos, but NOT. They’re hypnotic and funny, and can even sum up a whole half-season’s worth of story lines in two movable images (see: “Walking Dead” ones included.)

So, every Monday from now until THE FUTURE, we’ll be posting our favorite TV GIFs o’ the Week (the “o’” implies coolness!), from shows airing between the previous Sunday to Saturday. (In other words, for this week, it’d be any show ranging from “The Walking Dead” midseason finale to the Steve Buscemi “SNL” episode.) And we need your help! The three of us watch a ton of TV, but there are certain shows that slip through our proverbial cracks – so, if you find any O’ the Week-worthy GIFs for shows that aren’t, say, on Thursday nights, please send them to Joshua.Kurp@gmail.com. I’ll reply back with a “Simpsons” reference or picture of my guinea pigs (not a euphemism – they’re named Butters and Gob) or even a jovial “thank you!”

“…and 2-for-1 deadly beatings on Tuesdays”

Ashley “A.J.” Jewell, who until recently was engaged to “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burress (pictured), was beaten to death outside an Atlanta strip club (also pictured) Friday night.

Atlanta police charged a strip club employee with voluntary manslaughter Saturday in the beating death of the former fiancé of the newest member of the reality television show The Real Housewives of Atlanta…

Jewell died of  massive head injuries at Piedmont Hospital. He was fatally injured in a “one-on-one”  fight with Fredrick Richardson Friday night, police said…

Jewell was part owner of the club, and police have yet to determine the cause of the fight.

There are two things to take away from this: (1) People who date reality TV stars die in horrible ways. I think it’s God trying to effect some Darwinian changes by encouraging us humans to not procreate with people on reality TV shows. And (2) I swear not ONE “real housewife” who enters the news cycle is ACTUALLY MARRIED. Why don’t people care about this? Aren’t there ACTUAL real housewives who are pissed that they’re not getting on the show because Bravo keeps choosing unmarried and divorced women? Like,  it’s bad enough the supposed reality show is a cheaply manufactured soap. Can’t there be SOME kind of honesty in the title? How about the “Real Shallow Arguing Bitches”? I could respect that kind of transparency.

Kim Zolciak of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” — who is divorced and thus not actually a housewife — proved she has, like, opinions and stuff with this ad for the NO H8 Campaign calling for the repeal of Proposition 8 (that’s the one banning gay marriage in California).  Kim says:

“I feel so strongly about gay rights for several reasons, most importantly two of my family members are gay and my Uncle John was personally affected. He was denied rights that all heterosexual Americans are allowed. I believe that regardless of your gender you should be able to choose who your partner is, whether it be same-sex or not. I am all for people being happy. I posed topless to make a LOUD statement to help this wonderful cause. Thank you NOH8 Campaign!”

I feel the same way about gay marriage.  That’s why I commissioned this photograph of myself naked and handcuffed to a radiator. Uh, it’s a metaphor?
