FOX Greenlights Rob McElhenney Pilot About My Dream Life

01.10.12 Written by Danger Guerrero

Continuing the theme of awesome breaking TV news, it was reported last night that FOX has greenlit a pilot from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” creator, and noted temporary big fat guy, Rob McElhenney. From Deadline:

Fox has given the green light to one more pilot, a single-camera comedy from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia creator/star Rob McElhenney and the show’s executive producer Rob Rosell. The project, titled “Living Loaded,” is based on the book of the same name by Dan Dunn. It centers on a loose partying blogger forced to change his career plans when he becomes a radio host.

Hold on. HOLD ON. A “loose partying blogger” who ends up with a radio show? That’s pretty much my dream life summed up in one sentence. The only thing missing is a phrase like “with the help of his wise sensei” or “and takes down a diabolical criminal syndicate” tacked onto the end. Those are freebies, producers. Here to help.

Truthfully, though, this show sounds like EVERY blogger’s dream life. It could end up being to us what “Sex and the City” was to single, suburban girls who visited New York once and acted like they were the Carrie Bradshaw of Peoria. “THIS IS JUST LIKE OUR LIVES” we will exclaim while watching the main character live out our fantasy as we eat a peanut butter sandwich for dinner for the sixth day in a row. I, for one, can’t wait.

‘Always Sunny’ Bloopers Are the Best

09.22.11 Written by Matt

Ordinarily I find gag reels a complete bore, especially if they’re from a sitcom — I prefer to hear the jokes told correctly. But this gag reel from Season 6 of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” (video below) definitely breaks the mold. Not only was I laughing through most of this, but it cemented my desire to just follow Charlie Day around non-stop and listen to him interact with the rest of the world. Everything he does is funny. I want to hire him to break the news to me any time someone in my family dies. “Ha ha ha, my parents were in a horrible car accident?!? Oh, Charlie, that’s too rich!”

All-New Swear Words from ‘Always Sunny’

08.31.11 Written by Matt

FX has released a couple of new featurettes about Season 7 of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” and by the looks of it, the show hasn’t lost a step despite its lengthy run. The season overview, above, has the following: two vomit scenes, shirtless Fat Mac, Frank trying to marry a hooker, Charlie working with young girls for a children’s beauty pageant, and more. I’m happy to report that everyone in the Gang is still a delightfully terrible person beyond redemption.

In the video below (“Filthy”), the cast goes over some of the more colorful language they’ve used. Lots of “assdick” and “dickhole” and “bitch,” but my favorite one might be “white stains.” Man, I love acquiring new dirty words. This must be how Picasso felt when he got a new tube of paint.

The Ten Most Vile Actions of the Paddy’s Pub Gang on ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’

08.10.11 Written by Josh

The Gang on “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” — which returns for its seventh season on September 15 — means to do well. They really do. It’s just that Dennis, Dee, Mac, Charlie, and Frank’s good intentions often clash with the fact that they’re awful, conniving, despicable, racist, and misogynistic people. Their moral decrepitude makes “Sunny” one of the best sitcoms on TV, and its success has paved the way for FX to make other great comedies like “Louie,” “Archer,” and “The League.”

To tide you over until the premiere a month from now, here are the ten most revolting and rotten things the Gang from Philadelphia has done over the show’s first six seasons and 71 episodes, not one of which has anything to do with poor, dead-toothed Maureen Ponderosa.

“Always Sunny’s” Awesome Hallmark Promos

08.04.11 Written by Matt

“It’s Always Sunny Philadelphia” may very well be the most depraved comedy on television. Its characters are shallow, cruel, impossibly stupid, morally bankrupt drunks — which probably explains why I find it so enjoyable. And the lowbrow nature of the show makes these new promos (via EW) even more enjoyable. They’re all shot in a warm autumnal glow and have a sensitive voiceover about heartwarming self-discovery — the sort of thing you’ll instantly recognize if you grew up watching the occasional Hallmark movie.

There are three promos on this page, and three on the next. And you’ll definitely want to go to the second page, because that’s where I stashed the one that focuses on Rob McElhenney’s weight gain. Pageviews rule everything around me, PREAM! Get the money, dolla dolla bills y’all.
