‘ARE YOU FOR PANDA RAPE?’

data-cat-scan“Data, get me a cat scan.”

The video below consists of scenes from “Star Trek: The Next Generation” re-dubbed with random-ass lines that match the movement of the actors’ mouths. This is the kind of instant Internet classic that provokes two reactions: (1) You will either be confounded and bewildered, and find it kind of dumb, or (2) you will think it’s brilliant and laugh your ass off. If you’re among the latter group, congratulations, you’re one of the cool kids. You’re welcome to come play in my sandbox any time. Yes, that’s a metaphor. No, it’s not sexual. Don’t touch me.

‘STAR TREK’ JUST GOT SEXY. WELL, KINDA.

05.13.09 Written by Matt

For the last couple of months, I’ve been as fascinated by these “Star Trek: The Next Generation” re-cuts/edits as Best Week Ever‘s been.  And now, thanks to J.J. Abrams, Star Trek is relevant this week.  Check it out, it’s an UHURA NAKED SEX SCENE!!!  Nah, just kidding — it’s a Riker clone getting intimate with LeVar Burton’s Geordi.  I’ll warn you: it’s weird, and it’s kinda creepy, but the final act makes it worth it.  You broke Picard’s heart, you monsters!

YAY! MORE INSANE ‘STAR TREK’ MASH-UPS!

04.02.09 Written by Matt

A little over a month ago, my life was changed forever when I was introduced the mad brilliance of the “Star Trek: The Next Generation” mash-ups at Jandrew Edits.

Today, thanks to the follow-uptuitiveness of Best Week Ever, we get two more videos to add to the collection.  “Classical Concerto” above focuses on Data’s musical talents (he’s also an excellent painter), while “Goodnight, Sweet BEEP!” (below) is a little disappointing until the end.  Kind of like a date with your mom in that way.

FIRST LOOK AT ‘FAMILY GUY’/'STAR TREK’ THING

03.27.09 Written by Matt

For some mysterious reason, Seth McFarlane and the “Family Guy” brain trust reunited the cast of “Star Trek: The Next Generation” for an upcoming episode. Not exactly timely, but that’s never really stopped “Family Guy” from going ahead with a gag.

Anyway, it’s about what you might expect: there are some genuinely funny bits, and there’s also a gag that falls completely flat because it’s lifted straight from Caddyshack without any kind of new twist or context to make it funny. Basically, this will be the perfect episode to watch in syndication while your Lean Cuisine is in the microwave and you’re waiting for the primetime shows to come on. Just like every other “Family Guy.”

THESE ‘STAR TREK’ MASH-UPS F’N RULE

02.26.09 Written by Matt

Today’s MVP award goes to Jan Van Den Hemel and Andrew Hussie, who take old episodes of “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and edit them into brilliant and hilarious video shorts.  How they managed to make 18 of these before I found out about them, I’ll never know. I’m just glad that they’re in my life now.
