Back in December, “The League” featured an episode where Taco came up with the not-so-crazy idea of a Netflix type service for neck ties called “Neckflix.” The idea is simple: The service would send its customer a few ties each week in the mail, and then the customer could return them for a new set of ties the following week. This way, the customer could wear a different tie every day of the year without actually having to buy 365 new ties.

Genius, right?

David Powers, a lawyer at WilmerHale (Boo! BigLaw) thought so. He and Scott Tindle started their own Neckflix service.

TieTry.com is the brainchild of David Powers, who works for the firm WilmerHale, and Scott Tindle, who is based in Mobile, Ala., and they bill it as a kind of Netflix for your neck. For a monthly subscription charge, TieTry will send customers between one and five neckties to wear without having to buy. Ties are expensive, Powers says, so why plunk down a wad of cash and be stuck with it when you can loan one for a few days at a time.

Yup. That sounds exactly like Taco’s service. Powers claims that he got the idea from reality series “Shark Tank,” in which a group of venture capital investors hear pitches from aspiring entrepreneurs. But we know the truth. I expect that Mr. Powers will soon be hearing from Taco Corp. I don’t expect, however, that Taco Corp. will have a credible intellectual property claim — you can’t patent a business idea — but he could sue for egregious douchebaggery and failure to cite proper inspiration. Or he could just sic Bobbum Man on him.

Recurring characters are like inside jokes: They exist in part to reward viewers of television series, not just the episodes. They’re like drunk uncles or ex-girlfriends who drop by every few months, drink all your beer, dance naked in your living room, puke on the floor and vanish, only to return again six months later looking to crash on your couch. And we let them, goddamnit, because we have an unyielding affection for them, no matter how much they wreck the place.

The best shows use these recurring characters sparingly. They’re typically one note, but it’s a glorious note, and as long as it’s not overplayed, the character can continue to return without ever wearing out his or her welcome (see, e.g., Senor Chang, who was elevated to series regular on “Community” and almost immediately became unbearable).

I’ve taken the liberty of ranking, without comment, television’s best recurring characters. A note about the criteria: To be included on the list, the character must be in an on-going television show; he or she must have been in fewer than 30 percent of the show’s episodes; and he or she must have recurred in two or more seasons of the show. Limit one recurring character per series.

The X-Factor (FOX) – Season finale. It’s Melanie Amaro v. Chris Rene v. Josh Krajcik (all terrible pop star names) to become America’s idol. I’m voting for Josh because of his initials, and also because he didn’t write a rap called “Young Homies” or mess up “I Believe I Can Fly.”

Billy on the Street (Fuse) – After watching just the promo clip for “Billy on the Street,” a friend of mine emailed me saying, “I was laughing-crying by the end of it.” One anonymous friend can’t be wrong!

Extreme Christmas Trees (TLC) – There had better be at least one reindeer playing the air guitar in front of a group of elves moshing, or I’m out.

Beavis and Butt-head (MTV) – Season finale. Does Mike Judge ever accidently begin laughing like Beavis or Butt-head? That would be cool. (Follow-up question: does he do the laughs every time on the show, or are they pre-recorded? Inquiring minds, etc.)

The League (FX) – Two-part season finale. Matt Forte of the Chicago Bears guest stars, and a nation of Forte-owning fantasy players weep.

Late-Night Guests: Anderson Cooper, Lindsey Vonn, and Childish Gambino on Letterman; Jonah Hill, Chris Paul, and Il Volo on Leno; Kyra Sedgwick and Frankie Ballard on Ferguson; Jerry O’Connell, David Alan Grier, Jeff Musial, and the Rockettes on Fallon; and Claire Smith, Thomas Haden Church, and Glen Campbell on Conan.

It was an outstanding year for television comedies, as long as you didn’t watch television’s more popular sitcoms, like “Two and a Half Men” or “Mike and Molly.” To achieve the level of success afforded the likes of the CBS comedies, the humor needs to be obvious, conservative, and typically in the area of lowest common denominator. The year’s best comedies, on the other hand, were edgy, risky, weird, manic, and often offensive, which is probably why no more than 4.5 million people saw any of the year’s ten funniest episodes (according to the sham that is the Nielsen Ratings).

I didn’t want to duplicate any TV series on the list because I wanted to provide some depth and variety, which means that the ten funniest episodes of 2011 also fairly reflect the 10 funniest shows of 2011, though perhaps not in the same order. Picking a favorite among the episodes on many of these sitcoms is something of a fool’s errand, but I think the selected episodes are at least representative of their respective shows.

10. 30 Rock, “TGS Hates Women” — People that complain that “30 Rock” is not the show it once was clearly weren’t paying attention to the show’s fifth season, in which “30 Rock” managed to hang with the fresher NBC comedies, “Community” and “Parks and Recreation.” “TGS Hates Women” was of particular note for the way it managed to skewer Jezebel.com’s skewering of “The Daily Show,” while also hilariously wallowing in its own feminist hypocrisy: “I’m Amelia Earhart. I’m almost across the Pacific. Oh no, my period!”

9. Cougar Town, ” “You’re Gonna Get It” — Were it not for the shaft that NBC has been giving “Community” all season, its sister show on ABC, “Cougar Town” — the show that names all of its episodes after Tom Petty songs — might have gotten more attention. The spirit of “Scrubs” lives on in “Cougar Town,” and this episode in particular was one of the big highlights of 2011 for introducing us to Wrongball Bobby, @TheLarmy, and Jule’s brilliant screw-up of the “Pledge of Allegiance,” including her incorrect belief that it was written by Richard Stands.

8. Happy Endings, “Dave of the Dead” — “Happy Endings” debuted in the spring of this year, mostly to mixed reviews from critics. In the beginning, it was a fairly average show with better than average characters, but it was “Dave of the Dead” — the episode where hipsters are conflated with zombies — that elevated this series into one of the funniest on television.

7. Louie C.K., “Come on, God” — “Louie” is a funny show, but it’s rarely funny in the “ha ha” sense; its humor is deeper, more incisive and knowing, and is often mixed with a heavy dose of melancholia. It’s a comedy, and there is a lot of humor, but it’s not often the kind that will make you laugh so hard you p*ss your pants. But I wanted to include “Louie” because the show belongs on a list like this. “Oh, Louie/Tickets” (the Dane Cook ep) was probably my favorite episode of the year, while the hour-long “Duckling” was the most ambitious. But if I had to choose the funniest episode, I’d say it’s “Come on, God,” the episode in which Louis defends masturbation on Fox News and then attempts to sleep with the spokeswoman for Christians Against Masturbation, only to wind up at home at the end of the night masturbating while thinking about her.

6. South Park, “You’re Getting Older” — “South Park’s” mid-season finale will most likely be remembered for its unusually poignant and downbeat ending, and for the way Matt Parker and Trey Stone used the episode to question the show’s stasis. But in the midst of all that self-reflection, the episode also managed to be very funny, thanks in part to the fake trailers that sent up Adam Sandler’s recent motion picture output: ““This November, Adam Sandler sh*ts in your eyes, ears, and mouth! Whatever. You’ll pay to go see it. F*%k you!”

5. Archer, “El Secuestro” — “Archer” doesn’t mix the pathos with the comedy as well as some of the other shows on this list (or at all), but when it comes to pure comedy, it’s on the same level as “It’s Always Sunny” and “The League.” It’s tough to choose the funniest episode of 2011 because so many were so good, but “El Secuestro” gets the nod simply for the fact that it introduced the Lord Byron poem tattooed on Pam’s back, because Brett managed to answer the phone even after he’d been shot, and for the geeky revelation that Archer knows Asimov’s laws of robotics.

4. The League, “Thanksgiving” — The “Thanksgiving” episode narrowly edged out several other fantastic season three episodes — including “Bobbum Man” and “Ol Smokecrotch” — for the simple reason that casting Jeff Goldblum as Ruxin’s dad was a (vinegar) stroke of genius. And also because in the end, he ended up railing Sarah Silverman during Thanksgiving dinner. As Taco noted after walking in on Mr. Ruxin nailing Silverman’s character from behind: “I can see into his soul. Not good.”

3. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, “Chardee MacDennis: The Game of Games” — The seventh season was a huge bounce back year for “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” and the bottle episode “Chardee MacDennis” — a made-up board game — is the season’s one true classic episode and one of the most memorable since the near perfect second season. The entire episode was weird and manic and insane, and the end result was something akin to comedy bliss. Question: “Dennis is a**hole. Why Charlie hate?” Answer: “Because Dennis is a bastard man.”

2. Community, “Foosball and Nocturnal Vigilantism” — “Remedial Chaos Theory” was the best episode perhaps of any show in 2011, but it wasn’t the funniest. And where “Community” is concerned, “Foosball” takes the yearly crown for the show’s laugh out loudiest episode, thanks to Nick Kroll’s hilarious douchebag, Abed’s second turn at playing Batman, and the brilliant way in which foosball, of all games, brought out the worst in Shirley and Jeff. Oh, and Troy humming “Daybreak” took the effing cake.

1. Parks and Recreation, “Lil Sebastian” was probably the best episode of the season, “Flu Season” had the best line (Chris Traeger’s “Stop Pooping”), but the title of funniest “P&R” episode (and funniest episode of the year) goes to “The Fight,” the episode that introduced Tom Haverford’s Snake Juice, featured Nick Kroll (who is all over this list) as the douchebag DJ, and gave us the indelible and gleeful image of Ron Swanson dancing in the year’s most hysterically funny sequence.

If you’re not watching “The League,” or at the very least, if you don’t have the show in your Instant Netflix queue yet, then you don’t get to sit at the cool kids table. “It’s Always Sunny” and “Archer” tend to get most of the Internet attention when it comes to F/X shows, but it’s “The League” that — in its third season, at least — is the most consistently funny. It’s like an ensemble version of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” that just happens to revolve around a fantasy football league, though the premise is tertiary to the actual shenanigans. Also, never take fantasy football advice from anyone on the show. They’re is some kind of pansy 8-person league where everybody’s team is stacked with studs, and it’s a snake draft. Snake drafts are for amateurs.

Anyway, it’s an awesome show, which has featured guests appearances this season alone from Jeff Goldblum, Sarah Silverman, and Seth Rogen. And F/X yesterday had the good sense to renew show for another season, which means more Nick Kroll, and Nick Kroll is responsible for 30 percent of the sun’s power. FACT. And after the jump, I’m going to throw seven more “The League” connections at you that might just blow your mind.

1. Katie Aselton and Mark Duplass Are Married in Real Life: OK. This may not actually come as a shock to many of you. But, did you know that Aselton and Duplass are two of the most prominent members of the mumblecore movement in film? Mumblecore is a terrible, misleading name for an awesome independent genre of film: It’s basically improvised high concept films, and Mark and his brother, Jay, are kind of the Kings of Mumblecore (along with Lynn Shelton, who is like The Queen).

2. Katie Aselton is a Former Beauty Queen: Aselton is actually from my neck of the woods (Maine), and in 1995, she was Miss Teen Maine, as well as first runner up in Miss Teen America. She also attended Boston University, which is where I went to law school, but we never crossed paths, even though we were there around the same time. Otherwise, OBVIOUSLY we’d be married now and I’d be the star of “The League” and we’d have the cutest kids on the planet. Aselton also wrote, directed, and starred in a phenomenal mumblecore film with Dax Shepard called The Freebie, about a married couple who decide to give themselves one night away from marriage. Disaster ensues. It’s more heartbreaking than funny.

3. Mark Duplass: The Film Star: Most people know Duplass from “The League,” but in the indie film world, he’s kind of a big deal. He’s like the Brad Pitt of the SXSW Film Festival. Last year, he and his brother wrote and directed a movie called Cyrus, which starred Jonah Hill as a guy who had kind of a sexual obsession with his Mom, played by Marisa Tomei. It’s good, but very uncomfortable. But, my favorite Duplass film is Humpday, in which he stars with Joshua Leonard — that guy from Blair Witch Project — as two very straight best friends who decide, on a dare, to make a gay porn film together. All of these things are on Netflix Instant. Do yourself a favor and find them.

4. Nick Kroll: Everyone loves Nick Kroll thanks to the awesome character of Ruxin on “The League,” and because of an excellent turn on “Community” a couple of weeks ago. I have mixed feeling about Kroll, however, for two reasons: 1) He stole Joshua Malina’s role in the television world and I love Joshua Malina and 2) because Nick Kroll starred in seriously one of the worst sitcoms of the last decade, “Cavemen,” which was based on those annoying Geico commercials.

5. Jeff Schaffer: There’s a reason that “The League” is so similar in structure to “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” The creator, Jeff Schaffer, was also a writer/producer/director on “Curb,” as well as “Seinfeld.” He also wrote the screenplay for Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat (which “Seinfeld” producer/writer Larry Charles directed), as well as the screenplays for Eurotrip and, of all things, The Cat in the Hat

6. Paul Scheer: Many of you probably knew Paul Scheer before “The League” as a member of the sketch comedy troupe “The Upright Citizens Brigade,” as well as his role as a creator/writer/star of “The Human Giant,” and as a writer of a couple of episodes of the brilliant Adult Swim series, “Children’s Hospital.” But, did you know that he’s also a regular on the children’s show, “Yo Gabba Gabba”? He and Jack McBrayer (from “30 Rock”) do regular “Knock Knock Joke” segments. The pop-culture connections on “Yo Gabba Gabba” are astounding, and probably deserve a separate post at some point.

7. Jonathan Lajoie: Jonathan Lajoie, who plays Taco, basically got discovered from YouTube videos, where he gained fame playing his own songs and making music videos, like the above video for “High as F**k.” Check it out; it’s hilarious.

The above photo of Ben staring at Leslie’s non-wrinkled, non-hideous face: not a GIF. What follows after the jump: GIFs. Though they’ve been around since 1987, when CompuServe blah blah blah, GIFs have only really exploded in popularity over the last few years, thanks mostly to websites like Tumblr. They’re like pictures, but NOT. They’re like videos, but NOT. They’re hypnotic and funny, and can even sum up a whole half-season’s worth of story lines in two movable images (see: “Walking Dead” ones included.)

So, every Monday from now until THE FUTURE, we’ll be posting our favorite TV GIFs o’ the Week (the “o’” implies coolness!), from shows airing between the previous Sunday to Saturday. (In other words, for this week, it’d be any show ranging from “The Walking Dead” midseason finale to the Steve Buscemi “SNL” episode.) And we need your help! The three of us watch a ton of TV, but there are certain shows that slip through our proverbial cracks – so, if you find any O’ the Week-worthy GIFs for shows that aren’t, say, on Thursday nights, please send them to Joshua.Kurp@gmail.com. I’ll reply back with a “Simpsons” reference or picture of my guinea pigs (not a euphemism – they’re named Butters and Gob) or even a jovial “thank you!”

The initial entry follows, and even though Dustin already covered “Community” and many shows aired repeats, we’ve got Regis and Butt-head, di*k twirling, and Ruxin dancing. Yes.

My favorite “Simpsons” episode since 2008’s “That ‘90s Show.” Neil Gaiman makes everything better.

I know this is from “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” but I don’t know if this scene actually aired last week. I grabbed it from Reality TV GIFs, and they’re usually on-the-ball(s) when it comes to updating, so I’m just going to assume it did, look at it some more, and then rinse my eyes out with a mixture of cat pee and acid. (Via)

Nick Kroll pretty much ruled the week – not only did he dance on “The League,” he also had two very memorable appearances on “Conan” and “Community.” He owned the right to wear that #01 jersey.

I’ve never been a huge Maya Rudolph fan, but her Whitney Houston impressions are always entertaining, because Rudolph’s very gifted at spewing fast-talking nonsense. Her character on “Up All Night” has FINALLY toned down, too.

This, our first feature post of the post-Ufford Era (*single tear*) is both broad and, except perhaps for the numbering of list, somewhat obvious if you’re a TV fan. But it serves a dual purpose. First, it’s an introduction to our television viewing habits that let’s you know that we’re not going to sell you down the river for a glimpse of Whitney Cummings a$$ crack and that “Two and a Half Men” and The Kardashians will remain fodder for mockery and never, ever viewed or spoken of in earnest.

Second, television reruns dominate the next month and you’re stuck with your family, which is why December is the most popular month of the year for Netflix Instant subscribers (made-up fact) because it is both a good time to catch up on shows you’ve been meaning to watch and a good time to avoid talking to your loved ones. So, these 15 Netflix Instant titles also serve as a primer: For a true television junkie, this is the base of your television-viewing stew, the series you need to be familiar with to get by in this world, to understand pop-culture shorthand. It is knowledge, and knowledge is power, and power is something you can use to gain world domination. Watching “Arrested Development” is the first step in ruling your own small country of topless concubines and lazy peaceniks.

Note: Only series currently available on Netflix Instant are included.

15. Scrubs: J.D. and Turk were the original sitcom bromance, the precursors to today’s Troy and Abed. There’s one thing that neither Troy nor Abed have on “Scrubs,” however, and that’s the Turk Dance, the single greatest minute in single-camera sitcom history. Feel free to skip seasons 5, 6, and 8 (“Scrubs 2.0″).

14. Archer: Only season one is currently available, but that’s plenty to get you started on the best animated series on television right now. It’s funny, subversive, and a little dirty. It is a crime that H. Jon Benjamin has only one Emmy nomination for voice work, and got beat out by Anne Hathaway for a cameo in “The Simpsons.” The man’s voice drips funny.

13. The League: Ostensibly about a fantasy football league, “The League” is really a variation on “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” misanthropy combined with sports metaphors and a “Curb Your Enthusiasm” plot structure. Also, you haven’t lived until you’ve see Jeff Goldblum’s vinegar strokes.

12. Sports Night: This is where Aaron Sorkin’s walk-and-talk began and a forerunner to the modern single-camera sitcom. If you can get past the laugh track during the first season and Sorkin’s occasional unctuousness, “Sports Night” — a behind-the-scenes look at a sports network similar to ESPN — is one of the most clever, heartfelt and passionate television shows of the last 20 years. Shoe Money!

11. Sons of Anarchy: If you look at the history of F/X’s original programming, the network has never failed us, and “Sons of Anarchy” was the drama that started the ball rolling. Some describe it as “The Sopranos” with motorcycles, but it’s much more akin to Hamlet with bad-a$$ motherf*$#ers. Feel free, however, to skip season three. Here’s a blooper reel for SAMCRO converts.

10. Party Down: Little seen during its original run on Starz, “Party Down” has rightfully taken its place among the best cancelled-too-soon television shows. It is hilarious and biting; there’s occasional nudity; you’ll get to see Jane Lynch out of Jane Lynch mode; Adam “The Badger” Scott serves up the best dry wit this side of Michael Bluth; and there’s even an episode that will completely change your perspective on Steve Guttenberg. Here’s a taste.

9. Mad Men: There’s more to “Mad Men” that Christina Hendricks’ rack, the icy cold bitchiness of January Jones, and cool ad spots from the 60s. This period drama starts off slow (reasonable minds will differ, but I found the first two seasons dull in patches) but it’s most certainly the best soap opera on television, and you can even get a taste of Alison Brie over there. Mostly, though, it’s about Hendrick’s backside.

8. Firefly: Look: Either you’re one of the people who have seen “Firefly” and therefore love it, or you’re one of the people who can’t stand it because everyone else won’t shut up about it. It’s 12 episodes at 42 minutes apiece. You can knock it out in a Saturday, and then you can join the correct side of the equation. Here’s the show’s 32 Best Quotes (spoilers).

7. Louie: I know that Ufford was a huge fan of this show, and rightfully so: It’s groundbreaking. A structureless television show built around dark themes and stand-up comedy bits, and it’s one of the funniest most affecting television shows around. It may take a few episodes for you to find Louie C.K.’s rhythm, but once you do, it will rock your world.

6. Doctor Who: This is probably where I’m most likely to differ from my other Warming Glow colleagues, where I reveal my nerdish tendencies. But lookit: If you haven’t seen it, it’s probably not what you think: It’s a richly humane sci-fi show that’s just as concerned with characters as it is with the geeky sci-fi elements. But once you get invested, those sci-fi elements will propel you into the muck of nerddom until one day, you too, will own a TARDIS iPhone cover. You don’t need to watch the entire 30-year history of the show; the 2005 reboot will suit you just fine. And if the sci-fi doesn’t win you over, Karen Gillan should.

5. Parks and Recreation: Another popular show in the Uproxx world for obvious reasons: Ron Swanson may be the funniest character of the last decade, but it’s not just Swanson (or the hilariously dour April Ludgate): It’s unlike almost any modern sitcom: Earnest, unironic, and steeped in sweet sentiment. It’s funny, but it will also make your heart grow three sizes.

4. The Office (UK): The original UK version is still the best, and you can watch the entire series in a weekend’s time. Ricky Gervais mastered the art of uncomfortable comedy, something that the U.S. version has steered clear of since the third or fourth season. There are moments so painful that you may feel compelled to leave the room, but it’s those very moments that make the series payoff that much more satisfying. Before there was a Ron Swanson dance, there was a David Brent dance.

3. Friday Night Lights: Let me put this in terms the Warming Glow crowd will understand: “Friday Night Lights” is to football what Corgi Friday is to Corgis. It’s not about the Corgis. It’s about a shared sense of community, it’s about being thankful, and appreciative and finding something we can all rally around. Watch “Friday Night Lights.” Do it for the Corgis.

2. Arrested Development: I don’t think there’s anything else that can possibly be written about “Arrested Development.” Either you’ve seen it, or you’re a willfully stubborn idiot. It’s appropriate, however, that this show would rank high on a list of the best Netflix Instant series because, in two years, it will be returning exclusively on Netflix ahead of the talked-to-death movie.

1. Breaking Bad: Many people will argue, accurately, that “The Wire” is the best television show of all time. It’s true, but if there’s one show that can sniff its gunpowder residue, it’s “Breaking Bad,” a slow burn of a show that burns from both ends, creating an enormous amount of intensity. It’s brilliant storytelling, the best acting on television, and writing that will blow the threads out of your socks. Here’s another awesome gag reel.

Community/Parks & Recreation (NBC) – The second funniest hour on TV, behind any episode of “America’s Funniest Home Videos.” You can have your “satire,” and your “social commentary,” and your precious “plot.” I’ll take a chimp hitting a big fat guy in the ding dong with a wiffle ball bat. I’m very refined.

The Office/Whitney (NBC) – [notices these two shows across the room] [looks the other way, tries to act casual]

It’s Always Sunny/ The League (FX) – Here’s the thing about “The League”: I like the show. I do. But the football talk in it seems really forced to me. I understand that they have to make the references generic enough when they’re filming that things don’t end up stale or irrelevant when the show actually airs, but it always ends up sounding like a foreign movie where people are trying to talking about American stuff. “Did you guys see that foot ball game last evening?” “Yes, the runners scored many touch downs and the fans celebrated raucously.” “Raymond Rice of Baltimore is an excellent carrier of the of the old pig skin, to be sure.” My point is this: I am a jerk who pokes holes in perfectly nice shows and ruins them for everyone else. Hi!

Bones (FOX) – The seventh season premiere. Hey, did you guys realize that, between “Buffy,” “Angel,” and this show, David Boreanaz has been on network television almost non-stop since 1997? Think about that.

Burn Notice (USA) – USA’s flagship drama thingy is back tonight. Has he found out who or what burned him yet? I hope it was a koala in a baseball cap. I would definitely start watching if there was an evil koala.

Gabriel Iglesias Presents Stand-up Revolution (Comedy Central) – The commercials for this show look terrible. I heard one joke, which I have apparently blocked from my memory as some sort of self-preservation mechanism, that was so bad I actually groaned out loud like a cartoon. It’s a nice reminder that stand-up comedians aren’t necessary the funniest people in the world, just the ones who decided to do it for a living.

Beavis and Butthead (MTV) – Yeesh, there is a lot on TV tonight. My DVR is over in the corner doing pull-ups and listening to Slayer to get ready for the workout it’s going to get.

Jersey Shore (MTV) — Season finale. At last. This season went on forever; it’s like they’ve been in Italy most of my adult life. In other “Jersey” news, BadtvBlog compiled this season’s most depressing quotes, while With Leather brings us the news that Ronnie will be the fourth “Shore” member to dabble in pro wrestling.

Gigolos (Showtime) — Season premiere. This is the state of reality TV: Showtime wants to do a show about male hookers, and it wants to show the sex, so it pays the women who are supposedly paying for sex to do the sex scenes. Everyone’s a whore!

The League (FX) — Ruxin tries to keep Taco away from his new au pair played by Brie Larson (inset, click for larger) of ”United States of Tara” and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. She makes me wish there was a super-woman named Alison Brie Larson.

Charlie’s Angels (ABC) — One of your last chances to watch this show. Thank God.

Sweet Home Alabama (CMT) — Season premiere. A good ol’ boy from the South has to choose between 10 city girls and 10 country girls in this reality dating series. Perfect viewing for people who think “The Bachelor” isn’t white enough.

Project Runway (Lifetime) — Part 1 of a 2-part season finale. So really, next week is the season finale.

Rules of Engagement (CBS) — Season premiere. David Spade stars in a network comedy in 2011; Wendi McLendon-Covey (“Reno 911!,” Bridesmaids) plays his new wife that he regrets marrying.

Not content with Seth Rogen guest starring as Dirty Randy, “The League” has added two more big-name guest stars: Sarah Silverman and Jeff Goldblum.

They’ll join a Thanksgiving episode of the comedy series, with Silverman playing Andre’s (Paul Scheer) sister and Jeff Goldblum as Ruxin’s (Nick Kroll) father. “Sarah and Jeff are funny and fearless enough to play Andre’s sister and Ruxin’s father,” said League co-creators Jeff Schaffer and Jackie Marcus Schaffer. “And they didn’t flinch when we told them all of the crazy things they’d be doing with our cast. Fools!” [EW]

Silverman’s a divisive personality among comedy snobs, but I usually enjoy her. And I particularly like Goldblum. For someone so innately funny, he doesn’t do a lot of comedy. I mean, he’s done plenty of comedy throughout his career (“NTSF” and “Colbert” most recently), just not enough for my liking. Dance, monkey! Make me laugh!
