Appealing to the show’s well known fan base of stoned grandmas and 11 a.m. gin and juice drinkers, Snoop Dogg appeared on “The Price Is Right” yesterday, as party of Celebrity Charity Week, to help an annoying contestant win a lot of money. It’s the first time a rapper has appeared on a game show since the infamous 1991 episode of “Tic-Tac-Dough” with Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. They really did need the money.

On the Snoop Losing Any Credibility He Once Had by Doing Something That Has Nothing to Do with Rapping Scale, this ranks somewhere below his E! reality show, “Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood,” but above the time he appeared on “King of the Hill” as Alabaster Jones, the white pimp.

I’m not hating on the guy because he went on “The Price Is Right” and raised over $72,000 for the Snoop Youth Football League; I’m hating on Snoop because he went on “The Price Is Right” and now I know the guy who once rapped, “I’m hollering 187 with my di*k in your mouth” knows how much salad dressing costs.

In his long stint as the host of “Price is Right,” Bob Barker slept with God-only-knows how many showroom models before he got hit with a string of sexual harassment lawsuits starting in the mid-nineties. He also, as this video of clips from the 1970s reveals, had a habit of being a little handsy and condescending to female contestants. Now, Rich from fourfour (who made the clip) and the rest of the Internet are writing headlines about what a creep Bob Barker was, but I’m actually kind of disappointed that Barker isn’t more pervy.

I mean, yes: Barker’s attitude and physical contact would be completely unacceptable today, but this doesn’t even BEGIN to register on the Richard Dawson Sexual Harassment Scale. Dawson was the longtime “Family Feud” host who had a habit of “kissing all the female contestants, [which] was one of the things that made the show appear to be a warm and friendly program” (Wiki). Check out the video below: that’s some quality harassment.

I understand that — as someone who publicly longs for the days of drinking scotch and groping secretaries in the workplace — I’m not exactly the best person to defend Barker here. But it’s hardly fair to judge his actions in the 1970s by the standards of 2010.

This lady fainted during the Showcase portion of “The Price is Right.” The announcer went on and on about her trip to Minneapolis and the Mall of America, which elicited no response from her. Then: “…A NEW CAR!” and she went down like someone flicked her “off” switch. It was just like Avatar, except she isn’t a nine-foot blue cat-monkey. Yeah that’s right, I just saw Avatar this week. Hey, I’ve been busy. “Jeopardy!” ain’t gonna watch itself, you know.

Nothing’s going on in the world of television right now, so I’m digging into the Internet archives and posting my favorite clip from “The Price Is Right”: a guy named Taylor gets on the show on his 19th birthday and just OWNS everyone. (Yes, I like it even better than Gay and the retarded sailor.) At nine minutes, it’s a little longer than the usual Warming Glow video, but I just love everything about this clip. Well, almost everything: I hate the floppy hair the kids are wearing these days. Look at those bangs! He looks like a girl. Now, Drew Carey — that’s a haircut you can set your watch to.
