Monty Hall was the host of “Let’s Make a Deal.” Thomas Lennon is a comic actor best known as a founder of “The State” and as Lt. Dangle in “Reno 911!” (not to mention memorable roles in 17 Again and I Love You, Man). And I can’t get over how much Hall looks like Lennon if Lennon got a professional makeup artist to make him look old. It’s uncanny, right?
I dunno, maybe all white people just look the same to me.
For people who can’t stop fantasizing about Kerri Kenney, New Sensations and Rule 34 have teamed up to bring you Reno 911: A XXX Parody. If you’re wondering why someone would go through the trouble of XXX parodying what is essentially a parody itself, don’t worry; New Sensations opened up the “list of television shows” Wiki page and is just going down the list. They’ve covered everything from Who’s the Boss? to WKRP in Cincinnati. That one stars Ralph Long!
Funny or Die has enlisted the help of two of the show’s creators, Thomas Lennon and Ben Garant, to give the film a formal At the Movies review. Watch as they struggle to use words other than “f***ing” to describe the adventures of Sexy Dangle, Sexy Garcia, and (I’m only guessing) Keegan Michael Key the Sexy Theoretical Criminal. Warning: the video is NSFW on language alone, but there is also about a quarter-second of nipple.
I watched the film myself, and while I didn’t LOVE love it, I liked it a lot more than the The State: A XXX Parody, which was honestly pretty funny until Louie’s “I wanna dip my balls in it” catchphrase started getting uncomfortable.
As an aficionado of cheap, puerile humor, I always enjoy a good “That’s what she said” joke. The phrase has gone from “Wayne’s World” to tired irrelevance to ironic re-relevance thanks to Michael Scott’s overuse of it on “The Office.” In this Funny or Die sketch, Megan Mullally and Thomas Lennon (of “Reno 911!” and “The State”) create a history in which “That’s what she said” originated from a single slutty chick. Basically, it’s four minutes of different variations of the joke, and I therefore love it. Trust me, you don’t get the career I’ve had without dealing with a lot of genitals.
The not-quite-popular Comedy Central mockumentary “Reno 911!” was canceled yesterday afternoon, sending shockwaves through the dozens of people that would maybe watch an episode if they were flipping channels and noticed that it was on. Series creator/star Thomas Lennon (Lt. Jim Dangle) broke the news over his Twitter feed:
Reno 911! was cancelled at 1:30 pm today. Won’t be wearing the shorts again.
I honestly don’t want to sound so dismissive of “Reno 911!” — there were times when the show was brilliant and hilarious. It had a lot of funny moments, a lot of great guest appearances, and the Reno 911!: Miami movie was absolutely delightful (another feather in the cap for Paul Rudd). Unfortunately, the number of episodes that fell to Earth with an unfunny thud kept me from ever becoming a regular viewer. I’m sorry, “Reno.” Please don’t take it personally. I respect you, but this was probably for the best. Like that time I shot my dog. When I was seven.
